Description
Shiny palmate green leaves are opposite and usually composed of 5 serrated eliptic leaflets, each 4 - 6 inches long. Individual flowers are 1 - 1 1/2 inches long.
Showy 4 - 10 in long panicles of red to orange-red, narrow tubular flowers.
Typically drops it's leaves as the summer heats up.
Seeds and young shoots are poisonous if ingested. Indigenous people crushed the seeds and shoots and put them in water to paralyze fish.
